Acceptable Use Policy.

Short, and mostly one idea: send to people who asked to hear from you, about things they asked to hear about.

Effective 10 October 2026 · Last updated 5 August 2026 · Operated by SuperTuned Inc

Effective 10 October 2026. These terms take effect when OpenPush opens to the public. They are published now so you can read them before deciding whether to sign up, and so any change between now and then is visible rather than sprung on you. If you need contractual certainty sooner, email legal@openpush.ai and we will deal with you directly.

Consent is the whole policy

Every push you send must go to someone who opted in to receive notifications from your app or site, and it must be recognisably from you. Buying a list of device tokens, importing subscribers who opted in to somebody else, or re-subscribing people who opted out are all out of bounds.

Honour opt-outs promptly and completely. When someone unsubscribes, that is a decision about your app, not a preference to be re-litigated in the next campaign.

What you must not send

  • Anything that sexualises, endangers or exploits children. This is the one thing that ends an account immediately and gets reported.
  • Malware, phishing, credential harvesting, or links designed to impersonate someone else.
  • Harassment, threats, or content inciting violence against people or groups.
  • Deceptive financial promotions, fake urgency about accounts or payments, or anything engineered to look like a system notification when it is not.
  • Content that is illegal where the recipient is, including where your app is not.

Children

If your app is directed at children or you know some of your users are children, that brings obligations under COPPA, the GDPR and similar laws — including on consent and on what you may collect. Those obligations are yours as the controller. Do not use tags to store data about children beyond what you have a lawful basis for.

Fair use of a free service

Push is free to a million monthly active users per app and we intend to keep it that way, which means the limits that protect it are real. Do not split one product into several nominal apps to duplicate the free ceiling. Do not use the API as a general-purpose queue or storage layer. Rate limits apply and may change; we will tell you before tightening them in a way that affects you.

Don't attack the platform

No probing other tenants' data, no attempting to bypass rate limits or authentication, no denial-of-service. Security research is welcome — the security page explains how to do it in a way that gets you thanked rather than blocked.

How we enforce this

In almost every case, we email you first and give you a chance to fix it. For serious harm — child safety, active phishing, an attack in progress — we act immediately and ask questions afterwards. We would rather have a conversation than a suspension; suspension is what happens when the conversation does not work.

To report abuse of the platform, email hello@openpush.ai with enough detail for us to find it.
